There are lots of Counselling approaches and techniques and you can read further about these through the weblinks below.

My own approach is as a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. I am trained to work with you being the expert in your own life. You have an innate sense of what you need to grow and flourish and my role is to help you steer yourself in the context of your own life and experiences.

Counselling in this way is about sharing your story in trust with a trained professional. It’s about being accepted for who you are and in that to better understand why you feel, think and act as you do.

Understanding why we feel, think and act as we do now can come from a better understanding of patterns of behaviour we have, how we form relationships and what we expect from other people.

In telling your story and in being heard by someone who wants to know and understand you fully in order to help you, the counselling process can set in motion an increase in personal awareness and in so doing, better equip you to meet life from your own grounded self.

  • Counselling can help with personal growth and awareness.
  • Counselling can help in understanding why you feel the way you do.
  • Counselling can help make sense of things which are confusing you right now.
  • Counselling can help with relationships.
  • Counselling can help you make decisions.

Counselling might involve talking about a specific live issue or allow you to explore more generally your emotions around circumstances, events and people from your present or past in a safe and supportive environment.

Sometimes, we just feel we need to check in on ourselves to work out what is going on for us and talking to a counsellor can provide space to figure things out.
